About the Firm

Daniel Jacobson and Nat Levy established the firm in 1968. Daniel Jacobson was a prominent Conveyancer and was a Township Developer in Pretoria, which established the basis of our firm’s long-serving conveyancing practice. Jacobson & Levy’s is known for its experience, effective and quick service.

Our Pretoria North office was established in 1990 by Bernard Levy. Elanie Hugo then joined Pretoria North, and is now the conveyancer in Pretoria.

Daniel Jacobson retired in 1992. Nat Levy was a well-known and respected attorney and tax advisor, who emigrated in 1979. Nat Levy represented the accused at the Rivonia trial, as the Pretoria correspondent. Bernard Levy became a partner of the firm in 1970.

Nat Levy, Bernard Levy and Elanie Hugo were at various times members of the Executive Committee of the Association of Pretoria Attorneys.

Our client base includes a large number of leading private companies and successful businessmen in various fields of the economy, as well as financial institutions.

The firm is broadly divided into three departments: firstly, Litigation, in both the High and Magistrate’s Courts, secondly, Property and Conveyancing, including the administration of estates, and thirdly, Commercial Law. Within each of these departments, we have well-established areas of specialisation. Each department has skilled and experienced attorneys, which ensures that there is always someone available to meet our clients’ needs.

Our firm has, over many years, acted as correspondents for a number of large and eminent legal firms throughout South Africa. We also act for large auditing firms.

Social Development

Our firm has committed itself to social development, and supports the Luvuyo Orphanage Home in Soshanguve for orphaned children whose parents suffered from HIV and Aids. We also supported the ABSA Mac Centre Orphanage for abused children in Soshanguve.

Staffing Structure

Elanie Hugo, Jonathan Levy and Maxi Ginsberg all have their own personal secretaries who assist them.

In the conveyancing department, Elanie Hugo is assisted by a senior conveyancing typist. The firm also has a paralegal, a bookkeeper, three clerks, and a receptionist.

Our staff are well versed and highly knowledgeable in the fields of expertise in which they operate, whether it be litigation or conveyancing work.

Information Technical Usage

The directors of the firm all have personal computers and are linked by an internal network.

The conveyancing department is linked up to Regibond and to Reginet. The firm also uses Windeed to link to the Deeds Office and Cipro to link to the Registrar of Companies and Close Corporations.

Our bookkeeping department uses Winlaw.
